Small Goals = Small Actions = Low Energy Levels = low commitment
Last year, 2023, was amongst the most crushing for me emotionally, as I lost all relationships I got into or almost built.
Not one.
The say heartbreaks teach you lessons but for me, it was more of devastation.
I couldn’t fathom what else to do with my life.
Drive Drain
You lack drive and attention to follow-through to make them happen with small goals.
Don’t get me wrong, a relationship heading to marriage is not a small goal. But focusing your entire life on something not fully in your control doesn’t make sense.
Meanwhile, something on the side was booming without much effort. My business was on its best financial year already.
Set big goals that requires massive action, one that needs your full commitment, focus & attention.
I had always thought of diversifying into real estate sometime in the future but i never thought it would happen soon.
Of course, my idea of timing and investment analysis might have been poor since I wasn’t really moving by a plan.
I was 28. And i thought the next phase of my life would be settling down. When it crashed or lets say she pulled out … i never imagined it could end so soon.
All through the end of 2023 I was looking for how else to distract my mind apart from by business.
One successful big goal can change your life forever!!
I have a habit of taking walks. But this time i was taking more intentional walks.
One day, i took a walk around my block. More specifically to finest areas of the street. The houses took a different look as i was interested in the designs and art more that day.
Next thing an idea struck in my mind right away. I remembered i had a contact that lived close and was a site Engineer.
Immediately got in contact with him and he told me he was home and i could come to discuss further.
Now for those living in countries where you mostly have to buy home and not have to build you may not understand.
But in my country many people build if they can afford to. And you could still buy if you want.
He immediately connected me to the architect and we were drawing a plan right away.
I gave him my idea and he refined it and after some weeks my plan was ready.
It took some time but i can mark 2024 as the year i got my first home and even rented a section of it and now have a tenant paying me rent.
This whole journey has reminded me why setting goals are important.
If you set big goals, even when one doesn’t work out you still have the drive to pursue others.
But if you base your life on only small goals as soon as an “unintentional” big goal crashes like marriage or family or even a job - you’re f**cked.
Big goals fuel commitment and transformation
My goals for the rest of the year and next are BIG and i want that for you my friend.
Make sure you do at least ONE SMALL THING today that moves you closer to your goals.
Ps: I wrote a small book that can help you become more disciplined to set and achieve big goals:
