I remember once I told my doctor sis that I’m changing careers from pharmacy, which I spent many years studying in school, to writing and business, and she got confused about how that was a career path.

I started with a clear path: study pharmacy, become a pharmacist, and follow the traditional career ladder. But life, as it often does, had other plans.

Here's how I've learned to see my career as a journey filled with twists and turns, and how you might benefit from viewing yours the same way.

I look back and wonder if I had actually studied a more interesting course to me now, like writing or coding… whether it would have been easy for me to focus on a single career path.

I've always been curious, which led me to explore beyond my initial career choice. This curiosity has been my guide into digital markets and creative writing.

The cost of entrepreneurship: people doubt you until you get results.

Entrepreneurship has always been my thing. It may be fun, but it comes at a cost.

People who think they have better plans for what they think you could do get disappointed with your choices.

I don’t blame them. Their concerns are valid.

The pivot from pharmacy to e-commerce wasn't planned. Before graduating, I really wanted to build something for myself online.

The reason was because I saw online education, e-commerce, and preventive medicine as the future and wanted to key into them.

Writing was an accidental discovery. I started posing about my experiences, ideas, and lessons learned in business and life. While the feedback has not been astonishing, it has helped me develop clarity. This unexpected turn has now become a significant part of my career, blending storytelling with my insights.

Success for me isn't just about financial security; it's also about feeling fulfilled and making an impact.

It's about balancing the structured life of a business owner with the freedom of a writer, creating a career that's uniquely mine.

Trust the process

The reality that you're trying to manifest is already happening in a different timeline. You just have to synchronise your actions with that. Trust the process.

This may seem like a vague saying that you hear everywhere, but it's true! ⁣

Starting an online business or sharing my first piece of writing was daunting. But stepping out of my comfort zone has been where the most growth has occurred.
